The Janacek Philharmonic Orchestra Ostrava (Czech Republic) has appointed Russian conductor Vassily Sinaisky, 73, as their new Music Director, his management Intermusica announced.
Sinaisky’s tenure will begin on 1 September 2020 and will initially be for two seasons. First conducting the orchestra in December 2018, Vassily Sinaisky also conducted the orchestra’s opening concert of the 2019/20 season before now being appointed Music Director. Sinaisky’s first concert as Music Director is set to go ahead on 1 October 2020 with a programme that includes Strauss Four Last Songs and Stravinsky The Rite of Spring.
