The ancient site of Luxor awaits the return of the opera Aida after a pause of more than two decades. The last performance of Aida was held at the Temple of Hatshepsut in late 1997. Two performances are now planned at the majestic temple on Oct. 26 and 27. More than 4,000 tourists of different nationalities are expected to attend. Seat tickets cost between 100 and 750 $.
Luxor hotels are fully booked on the two days, breaking a record. Nile Cruises in Luxor have the highest occupancy rates since 8 years, the Tourism Board announced.
The opera is staged by the German opera director Michael Sturm.
Korean soprano Sae Kyung Rim sings Aida. The role of the Egyptian army chief Radames will be embodied by Mickael Spadaccini from Belgium. Eliska Weissova will sing the role of Amneris.
The National Choir of Ukraine and the Lviv National Philharmonic Orchestra of Ukraine will be conducted by Oksana Lyniv.
