Veriko Tchumburidze (Georgia/Turkey) is the winner of the Henryk Wieniawski International Violin Competition in Poznan, Poland. Bomsori Kim (25, South Korea) and Seiji Okamoto (22, Japan) share the Second prize.
Born in 1996, Veriko Tchumburidze started playing the violin at the age of four. She studied in Mersin, South Turkey and in Vienna. She is currently developing her skills with Ana Chumachenco at the Musik Hochschule in Munich.
This year’s jury comprised Krzysztof Penderecki (Honorary Chairman), Maxim Vengerov (Chair), Vera Tsu Wei-Ling, Mayumi Seiler, Marios Papadopoulos, Konstanty Andrzej Kulka, Robert Kabara, Ilya Gringolts, Bartosz Bryla, Zakhar Bron, Alena Baeva, Kyoko Takezawa, Dong-Suk Kang, Akiko Tatsumi and Peter Zazofsky.
