Victor Jacob, 28, finalist and Special Mention of the Besançon International Competition 2019, has been appointed assistant conductor of the Orchestre de Picardie and the Orchestre National de Lille for the 2021-2022 season. He succeeds Léo Margue, Jonas Ehrler and Lucie Leguay.
Winner of the competition for assistant conductor of the Orchestre Philharmonique Royal de Liège in May 2019, Victor Jacob has already been the guest of the Orchestre de Picardie in December 2020.
Since 2016, the Orchestre de Picardie and the Orchestre National de Lille have been committed to developing their complementarity, while cultivating their respective identities, through the signing of a protocol of action for territorial cooperation. This allows for the appointment of an assistant conductor chosen by mutual agreement, a sign of the two orchestras’ commitment to the professional integration of young conductors.
The originality of this shared position allows the person who occupies it to approach and perfect a very wide repertoire, whether it be that of a so-called Mannheim orchestra such as the Orchestre de Picardie or the great symphonic and lyrical works that are the daily life of the Orchestre National de Lille. A rare and formative opportunity for the young conductors chosen.
A former singer, Victor Jacob began conducting as a choral conductor before devoting himself fully to conducting.
