Canadian violinist Lara St. John, 53, is working on a documentary film about sexual abuse in classical music, the Philadelphia Inquirer said.

In 2019, Lara St. John spoke out about sexual harassment when she studied at Philadelphia’s Curtis Institute of Music. She said she was sexually assaulted at age 14 by her teacher Jascha Brodsky. She said that she repeatedly reported what happened to the school’s management, both at the time and years later, but was ignored. Finally, when she went public with the allegation, she received a late apology from Curtis.

Meanwhile she has received hundreds of accounts from women, plus a few from men, sharing similar experiences.

She decided to produce a documentary film together with Patrick Hamm about sexual harassment and abuse at schools and in orchestras internationally.
