The 1st International Rachmaninov Competition for pianists, conductors and composers, which ended on June 27 in Moscow, rewarded large majority of young Russian and Chinese musicians. Yet, a French conductor, a Brazilian pianist and a British composer managed to make it into the list of winners. We will not mention their names, and if they ever list this prize in their biographies, this mention will be accompanied by the shame of having been awarded by a jury to which belonged the Russian warriors Valery Gergiev, Denis Matsuev and Boris Berezovsky.
