Grandios! Einfach nur grandios! Man kann sich an der vollkommen gesunden und wunderschönen Stimme von Samuel Hasselhorn, der sich hier mit einem sehr interessanten Schumann-Programm präsentiert, einfach nicht satthören. Die Lieder erklingen alle in tiefempfundenen Interpretationen. Die atemberaubende Phrasierung katapultiert Hasselhorn auf Anhieb in die erste Reihe der Liedsänger. Seine Stimme und sein Vortragsstil sind ganz anders als die von Gerhaher, Prégardien oder Goerne, aber trotzdem in allen Hinsichten faszinierend. Wenn Hasselhorn singt, dann klingen die Lieder von Schumann neu und anders. Die Wärme, die Leichtigkeit und Klangfülle, der Farbenreichtum in seinem Gesang sind ganz einfach phänomenal. Und mehr ist zu dieser Lied-CD nicht zu sagen, außer vielleicht noch, dass auch der Pianist Joseph Middelston ganz hervorragend begleitet und vor allem sehr intelligent mitgestaltet. Mit Sicherheit eine der allerschönsten und besten Lied-Aufnahmen der letzten Jahre. Bravo!

Terrific! Simply grandiose! You can’t get enough of the perfectly healthy and beautiful voice of Samuel Hasselhorn, who presents himself here with a very interesting Schumann programme.
The various Lieder are offered in deeply felt interpretations. The breath-taking phrasing immediately catapults Hasselhorn into the front row of the song singers. His voice and performance style are very different from those of Gerhaher, Prégardien or Goerne, but still fascinating in all respects. When Hasselhorn sings, Schumann’s songs are new and different. The warmth, the lightness and richness of textures and colours in Hasselhorn’s singing are simply phenomenal. And there is nothing more to be said about this CD, except perhaps that the pianist Joseph Middelston also provides excellent accompaniment and, above all, contributes very intelligently to the whole program. So, this is certainly one of the most beautiful and best song recordings of recent years. Bravo!
