Pietro Nardini (1722-1793) hatte als Geiger einen guten Ruf. Die Kunst dieses Schülers von Giuseppe Tartini wurde u.a von Leopold Mozart gepriesen, « in der Schönheit, Reinigkeit, Gleichheit des Tones und im Singbaren Geschmacke nichts Schöneres kann gehöret werden“. Die Musik, die er komponierte, ist der Vorklassik zuzurechnen. Sie ist galant, charmant, und sollte auch unterhaltsam sein. Dazu hätte es aber eines inspirierteren Spiels bedurft als dem der Violini Capricciosi. Das Ensemble zeigt zu wenig Gestaltungsfantasie, so dass das Musizieren auf Dauer ermüdet. Außerdem finde ich den Klang dieser Aufnahme nicht sehr angenehm: der Ton der Geigen ist ziemlich scharf und aufdringlich, während das Cello und das Cembalo dumpf im Hintergrund agieren.
Pietro Nardini (1722-1793) had a good reputation as a violinist. The art of this student of Giuseppe Tartini was praised by Leopold Mozart, among others, « in beauty, purity, equality of tone and singable taste nothing more beautiful can be heard ». The music he composed belongs to the pre-classical period. It is gallant, charming, and should also be entertaining. But this would have required more inspired playing than that of the Violini Capricciosi. The ensemble shows too little imagination, so that the music-making tires in the long run. Moreover, I don’t find the sound of this recording very pleasant: the sound of the violins is rather sharp and intrusive while the cello and the harpsichord act muffled in the background.
