Die israelisch-ukrainische Komponistin Anna Segal hat mehrere Kompositionen für Harfe, Fagott und Orchester geschrieben, die auf diesem Album zu hören sind.
Das Programm beginnt mit dem Concerto Judaica, das sich auf Elemente der Folklore stützt, stimmungsvoll, oft tänzerisch und teils sehr humoristisch. Das 22 Minuten lange Werk ist ein dadurch und auch wegen der ungewöhnlichen Mischung Harfe-Fagott ein sehr unterhaltsames und charmantes Stück.
Auch in Longing, für Soloharfe, im Biblical Mosaic for Basson and Harp, den Folk Songs sowie dem abschließenden Yemenite Love Song mischt Segal traditionelle Element mit ihrer eigenen Musiksprache, um das singende Fagott mit der Harfe als Begleitung in einen attraktiven Dialog zu bringen.
Neben der wie immer exzellenten Harfenistin Rachel Talitman beeindruckt der 1992 geborene zypriotische Fagottist Mavroudes Troullos mit einem Spiel das keckste Virtuosität und betörenden Lyrismus zeigt.
The Israeli-Ukrainian composer Anna Segal has written several compositions for harp, bassoon and orchestra, which can be heard on this album.
The program begins with the Concerto Judaica, which is based on elements of folklore, atmospheric, often dance-like and sometimes very humorous. The 22-minute work is a very entertaining and charming piece due to the unusual mixture of harp and bassoon.
In Longing, for solo harp, the Biblical Mosaic for Bassoon and Harp, the Folk Songs as well as in the concluding Yemenite Love Song, Segal also mixes traditional elements with her own musical language to create an attractive dialog between the bassoon as singer and the harp as accompaniment.
Alongside the as always excellent harpist Rachel Talitman, the Cypriot bassoonist Mavroudes Troullos, born in 1992, impresses with a playing that displays the boldest virtuosity and beguiling lyricism.
