Two days ago, Deutsche Grammophon announced a partnership with Renaud Capuçon (link to the Pizzicato news piece). In the press release, Dr. Clemens Trautmann, President of Deutsche Grammophon, says: « …he is the first French violinist signed to DG since Christian Ferras, one of his great sources of inspiration. » Trautmann is wrong.
Between Christian Ferras and Renaud Capuçon, French violinist Augustin Dumay made numerous recordings, Mozart concertos, Sonatas and trios by Beethoven, Grieg, Franck, Debussy, Ravel, Brahms and Schumann, many of them with Maria Joao Pires.
These recordings of Augustin Dumay are however not unknown in all of Trautmann’s services since, for example, they dedicate him a playlist on Deezer entitled ‘The art of Augustin Dumay’.
