The European Union Youth Orchestra is said to transfer its headquarters to Grafenegg in Austria, where Pianist Rudolf Buchbinder runs a successful music festival that has become in recent years already a partner of the orchestra. During the presentation conference of the festival’s program 2017, the Provincial Governor of Niederösterreich (Lower Austria), Erwin Pröll, said, he wanted the festival to acquire a distinctive European character and become the future home for the European Youth Orchestra. Grafenegg and the EUYO have successfully presented a European Music Campus (EMC) in the Austrian city since 2014.
The EUYO is currently under the auspices of the International Youth Foundation of Great Britain, a UK Registered Charity, and has its headquarters in Pont Street, London. With the ongoing Brexit, the Orchestra, recently saved by the European Union with guaranteed funding for the next years, has to look for a new home.
