Schuberts Winterreise gibt es in sehr verschiedenen Bearbeitungen für Stimme und Orchester, für Gitarre, für Viola und Klavier, für Drehleier und Sopran, für gemischten Chor und Klavier und in weiteren Konfigurationen.
Hänssler legt mit dieser CD eine rein instrumentale Version für Klavier, Fagott und Oboe vor. Dass das Ergebnis etwas ganz Besonderes sein würde, war anzunehmen. Die Einspielung ist aber letztlich eher ein Kuriosum als wirklich bedeutsam. Das liegt nicht nur an der Interpretation, wo der Fagottist Bence Boganyi noch den besten Eindruck hinterlässt, während es der Oboe von Clara Dent-Boganyi an Wärme und Geschmeidigkeit fehlt. Das Spiel des Pianisten Gergely Boganyi, der ja vor allem als Designer futuristischer Klaviere bekannt ist, ist leider sehr beliebig und auf seinem nicht besonders voll und rund klingenden, im Klang auch mulmigen Klavier bleibt er dem Klavierpart sehr viel schuldig, der zudem von der Aufnahmetechnik benachteiligt wurde.
Und so ist diese Winterreise, wie gesagt, ein Kuriosum. Und nicht einmal ein besonders attraktives. Mit realem Schubert hat das Ganze sehr wenig zu tun.
Schubert’s Winterreise exists in very different arrangements for voice and orchestra, for guitar, for viola and piano, for hurdy-gurdy and soprano, for mixed choir and piano, and many other configurations.
With this CD, Hänssler presents a purely instrumental version for piano, bassoon and oboe. That the result would be something very special was to be expected. However, the recording is ultimately more of a curiosity than truly significant. This is not only due to the interpretation, where the bassoonist Bence Boganyi still leaves the best impression, while the oboe of Clara Dent-Boganyi lacks warmth and suppleness. The playing of pianist Gergely Boganyi, who is known mainly as a designer of futuristic pianos, is unfortunately very arbitrary, and on his not particularly full and round sounding piano, which is also mulish, he owes a lot to the piano part which was clearly disadvantaged by the recording crew.
And so this Winterreise is, as I said, a curiosity. And not even a particularly attractive one. The whole thing has very little to do with real Schubert.
