62-year-old Canadian conductor Yves Abel has renewed his contract as Principal Conductor of the San Diego Opera. Abel has held his position since the 2020-21 season, and his new five-year extension will last through the 2031–32 season.
Previous posts include Chief Conductor of Germany’s Nordwestdeutsche Philharmonie from 2015-2021, and Principal Guest Conductor of the Deutsche Oper Berlin from 2005-2013.
