Zubin Mehta has once again canceled several performances. The Bavarian State Opera and the Munich Philharmonic announced that he would have to take a break. At the end of March, the 88-year-old had already decided not to conduct the Berlin Philharmonic for health reasons, as was reported at the time.
Mehta was due to conduct Giuseppe Verdi’s Don Carlo at the Bavarian State Opera in May. Ivan Repusic, chief conductor of the Munich Radio Orchestra, steps in for him.
The Munich Philharmonic had scheduled their honorary conductor for concerts on May 21 and 22. Pablo Heras-Casado will now take over.
