Diese CD präsentiert zwei Chorwerke von Joachim Havard de la Montagne (1927-2003), einem französischen Organisten, Komponisten, Musikwissenschaftler und Dirigenten.
Von 1967 bis zu seiner Pensionierung 1996 war Havard de la Montagne Kapellmeister an der Église de la Madeleine in Paris. Er gründete 1971 die Chöre und 1974 das Ensemble instrumental de la Madeleine, mit denen er über 200 Konzerte gab.
Er hat ein umfangreiches Werk hinterlassen – mit vornehmlich geistlicher Musik -, das stark von Gabriel Fauré, Maurice Duruflé, Louis Vierne und dem gregorianischen Gesang inspiriert ist.
Die nun auf CD erhältliche Aufnahme von 1993 wurde damals auf LP veröffentlicht und von der l’Académie du disque lyrique mit dem Grand Prix International, Orphée d’or 1994 ausgezeichnet.
Die CD enthält zunächst die Complies, die Abendgebete, sieben an der Zahl, die als Gebet der Hingabe und des Vertrauens eine große Ruhe ausstrahlen, sind sie doch alle mit dem Ostergeheimnis und der damit verbundenen Hoffnung auf die Erlösung verbunden. Die Complies münden ganz natürlich in das Office de Prime, der ersten Messe des Tages, in der Havard de la Montagne mit einer stimmungsvollen und evokativen Musik den Tagesbeginn und das Lob Gottes darstellt.
Neben dem Gesang enthält das Werk wunderbare orchestrale Naturbeschreibungen zum erwachenden Tag.
Die Interpretationen sind sehr atmosphärisch und engagiert, von durchwegs guter musikalischer Qualität und auch die Aufnahme aus dem Kirchraum der Pariser Madeleine ist zufriedenstellend.
Und so hat Eric Rouyer, Herausgeber des Palais des Dégustateurs unbedingt Recht, wenn er sagt: « Ich bin der Meinung, dass diese beiden Kompositionen die gleiche Anerkennung verdienen wie das Requiem von Fauré, das Stabat Mater von Poulenc, L’Apocalypse selon Saint-Jean von Françaix oder Saint-François d’Assise von Pierné und somit wichtige Werke unseres musikalischen Erbes sind ».
This CD presents two choral works by Joachim Havard de la Montagne (1927-2003), a French organist, composer, musicologist, and conductor.
From 1967 until his retirement in 1996, Havard de la Montagne was Maître de Chapelle at the Église de la Madeleine in Paris. He founded the choirs in 1971 and the Ensemble instrumental de la Madeleine in 1974, with which he gave over 200 concerts.
He left behind an extensive oeuvre of primarily sacred music, heavily inspired by Gabriel Fauré, Maurice Duruflé, Louis Vierne, and Gregorian chant.
Now available on CD, the 1993 recording was released on LP at the time and was awarded the Grand Prix International, Orphée d’or 1994 by l’Académie du disque lyrique.
The CD first contains the Complies, the evening prayers, seven in number, which radiate a great calm as prayers of devotion and trust, since they are all connected with the Paschal Mystery and the hope of redemption associated with it. The Complies lead naturally into the Office de Prime, the first Mass of the day, in which Havard de la Montagne uses evocative and evocative music to represent the beginning of the day and the praise of God.
In addition to the chant, the work contains wonderful orchestral descriptions of nature as the day awakens.
The interpretations are very atmospheric and engaging, of good musical quality throughout, and the recording from the church hall of the Madeleine in Paris is also satisfying.
And so Eric Rouyer, editor of the Palais des Dégustateurs is absolutely right when he says: « I believe that these two compositions deserve the same recognition as Fauré’s Requiem, Poulenc’s Stabat Mater, L’Apocalypse selon Saint-Jean by Françaix or Saint-François d’Assise by Pierné and are thus important works of our musical heritage ».
